Charlie Chi ran the smallest record shop on the avenue—and kept the deepest bins. By 1987, dancers, collectors and neighborhood DJs knew that if Charlie set a record aside for you, it deserved a careful listen.
He remembered everybody’s favorites, stocked the local releases up front and never chased a passing fad. After closing, Charlie lowered the security gate halfway, switched on the counter lamp and gave every new arrival one honest spin before it earned a place in the shop.
