Midjourney 4 (11-2022) and v5 (3-2023) saw a pair of big advances, locking David Holz Midjourney project in solid with the emerging AI art community. The images I was generating inspired the writing of a sc-fi novel. There was a certain flavor of photorealism that made these fun and appealing.

This is how you tell a story with images only. Probably the first jump from just experimenting with the capabilities of Midjourney 5 to creating something artful: a story that conveys mood.. and an element of surprise.

3/2/2023 This was the second of the series’ created with Midjourney 5.
I was experimenting with making a series of static images tell a story, once again trying to find some artistic use for this AI thing.
Stories emerge. There was a greater time and I feel privileged to have been born right here, in the middle of the 20th. These are my people and I stand solidly with the American workers and the ideals that our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers fought for. To honor them/us. A nation of hard working immigrants.
This is America. Regardless of how our United States stand over time, this was the melting pot of human cultures and skill that I was born into. Although they could not read it, the words inscribed: that awaited my family as they were brought into New York as refugees of an oppressive regime.
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”.
See, I’m now 63. I have never prospered in wealth, never acquired an advanced degree. Probably never quite took advantage of the American ideal. That path had been cleared, long before the Baby Boomer generation.
But now we have a despotic group of oligarchs and billionaires who have already bought the country from under our feet while we watched. And they want it all. So, what have I got to lose?
A most interesting time, where we now have the world’s largest police force turned against us. We The People may not have a fighting chance. Still, it will be worth fighting for.
